LASIK TREATMENT
ADVANTAGES OF LASIK PROCEDURE
- LASIK is virtually painless
- LASIK only takes a few minutes
- LASIK treatment allows for next day recovery
THE PROCEDURE:

|
 |
 |
 |
| 1 |
An INTRALASE © laser creates a flap
tissue on the front of the cornea with previously unobtainable level of precision. |
| |
|
| 2 |
The flap of tissue is lifted back, and exposes the stromal layer of the cornea. The excimer laser is applied to the stromal layer thus altering the shape of the cornea to compensate for your refractive error |
| |
|
| 3 |
The flap of tissue is repositioned over the stromal tissue and rapidly forms a re-adhesion to the area. |

SURFACE LASER TREATMENT
KNOWN AS PRK OR LASEK
These treatments are carried out in situations where your cornea may be too thin or the corneal shape is not suitable for LASIK treatment. No flap of tissue is cut; the corneal tissue is removed, and the excimer laser refractive treatment is applied. The recovery time from these procedures is lengthier, so may take more time to return to your normal day to day activities. If you are suitable for this procedure it will be explained during your preoperative consultation.
